O’Brien’s wetlands

Working with the landholder, the goal is to rehabilitate the wetland by proving a more natural drying and wetting cycle to improve vegetation quality and cover, support the growth of planted vegetation and provide habitat for waterbird foraging and for frogs.

Today a range of uncommon species are found at the wetland including the Vulnerable ridged water-milfoil (EPBC Act) and Endangered stiff groundsel (EPBC Act), as well as other unique species such as the Endangered (FFG Act) long eryngium and swainsona-pea.

Brolgas have also returned to the site for foraging purposes.
