thompsons Wetland
Thompsons Wetland is a black box wetland near Tatura VIC. We are working with the landholder to support a natural water regime, helping to restore the black box woodland and provide suitable habitat for waterbirds and frogs.
The landholder has installed 100s of nest boxes for wildlife around the wetland and actively manages the wetland for environmental outcomes. With an appropriate watering regime, this wetland could see benefits to vegetation quality and cover, providing habitat for waterbird foraging and for frogs. The wetland today only fills in very wet years from runoff, requiring targeted flows to achieve a more ‘natural’ watering regime.
